How to Get Motivated in Life

Given a chance, everyone would like to change some aspect of their lives. Who doesn’t like improvements? The answer to this question might always be a “Yes.” No matter what everyone wants, by changing a few things it is possible to make your life better. Some might want to get fit and in shape, while others might want to be a successful businessman, an excellent chef, or an outstanding coder. Everyone has something in their heads that they want to achieve, but they cannot because of a lack of motivation. If you're also struggling to achieve your goals, then this is the post for you.

What keeps you from getting motivated?

There are a lot of distractions in our day to day life that keeps us from being motivated and staying motivated. Some of these habits are listed below:

Procrastination: Procrastination is one of the major reasons that

keep people from being motivated. Delaying the things that you need to do might be destructive for you. It slowly weakens the base of people to become

successful.

Binge-watching for hours: No doubt, everyone loves to binge-watch

their favorite web series. It might even be helpful at times when you’re

exhausted after a long day at work and want to refresh your mind. But binge-watching for hours every day might actually be counterproductive. You can get a lot more important stuff done in this time instead of wasting it like this.

·   Scrolling your Instagram or Facebook feed for hours: This is one

of the major problems that today’s generation face.

Sleeping late: Everyone loves to get that extra sleep in the

morning. No doubt it is a delightful thing that one could ever have. But

sleeping till late in the morning wastes your precious time and makes you lazy. A big productivity killer...

·

Not pushing yourself to get motivated but waiting to get motivated

to push yourself: People these days wait to get motivated before they start working on their goals, whereas you should work on your goals to get motivated to achieve it.

·

Fear of failure: The fear of failing keeps a lot of people at bay

from getting what they want in life. The fear of not making it up to your goals might sometimes stand in your way of getting motivated.

Not having a goal set: Not setting a goal that you want to achieve

might lead you to be inconsistent, distracted, and unaware of what you want

to achieve this, this, in turn, will lead you to be unproductive.

·   Lack of consistency: Motivation isn’t something that comes

instantly, you need to work on it. Motivation comes by doing the things that you need to get done consistently over a period of time. This is the step that people are most dreaded to take. Motivation comes with consistency, and being consistent might be a challenge most of the time. You need to push yourself to get a task done and keep pushing yourself to do the same every day until you

develop an environment around yourself that keeps you focused and motivated to achieve your goals.

Ways to get motivated Stop procrastinating

The day you stop procrastinating, is the day you have started taking the first step towards your success. At times when we are really productive, and we have figured out how to stop procrastination for a while, we feel delighted and contented. The only way to stop procrastinating is by pushing yourself to do what you need to do at its own time.

Set your goals

Setting your goals not only makes you more focused on it but also helps you to keep going, in order to achieve it. It provides a vision of what and how to do it in order to reach there. This way every time you are distracted, you recall your goals and get that urge to make it up to there successfully. If you have a clear vision of what you want, you are probably more likely to achieve it because you are aware of what you really want.

 Make a to-do list

Making a to-do list helps you remember all the important tasks that you need to be done. It also creates an order in which you need to get different tasks done. As you check off things from the to-do list from time to time, you will have a feeling of productivity, and it also relieves stress as you do not have a pile of unordered tasks left undone, but have it all arranged and managed. It also keeps your tasks and schedules organized, and you get your tasks done on time.

Make a list of motivational affirmations:

You might think what a list of affirmations has to do with motivation. But believe me, when you start doing it, you will feel a little more positive, productive, and motivated every time you do it. Success is a mind game, and you can win this game by making a slight change to your day. Some of these affirmations are- “I believe I can do anything,” Everything that is happening now is for my ultimate good,” “My ability to conquer my challenges is limitless, my potential to succeed is infinite”

Meditate everyday

Meditation is the process of training your mind to focus and redirect thoughts. It can improve the quality of your life. Meditation plays a great role in calming your mind, making you more productive and motivated. Meditating every day for a few minutes might bring a great change to your life. It can also help in managing stress and other mental issues making you a mindful and productive person in return.

Schedule your days

Making a schedule for your days might be life-changing. Planning your days might result in being organized, stress-free, and being more productive. Allotting time to all your tasks might lead to having a better quality of life. Divide the time of you to different tasks according to your productivity at that time of the day.

Start Reading

Reading is a habit that all successful people have. Be it Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, or Warren Buffet, all of them credit their immense success in life to the reading habit that they have developed over the years. Reading not only increases your knowledge but also leads to your personality development. You might want to start with reading whatever you like, for just 15 minutes a day and gradually keep on increasing the time.

 Have a good company

Having a good company is very important. It is said that the personality of a person is the average personality of the five people you are the closest to. So having a good company may help us become better individuals.

 Stay away from negative people

While it is important to have a good company, it is also important to stay away from negative people. Negative people bring a negative vibe to your surroundings, and when exposed to the negative surrounding for a long time, you might also end up becoming a pessimist.

 Take the 21/90 days challenge

According to the 21/90 days rule, it takes 21 days to develop a habit whereas it takes 90 days to build a lifestyle. If you really wish to change and upgrade the quality of your life, then this is a brilliant way to get there. You can just start by jotting down the habits that you want to adopt in your life on a paper and start taking up the 21/90 days challenge for one habit at a time. In a short span of time, you will realize that the quality of your life has improved to an unbelievable extent.

 Stay away from distractions

In today's world, we have a lot of distractions around us. We should instill a habit of not getting distracted in ourselves. While you might not have control over every distraction, you can limit the ones that you can control. Try your best to not sabotage your productivity by indulging yourself in useless distractions. Try not to get distracted easily and stay focused especially when you are working.

Exercise, to clear your mind

Exercising not only helps you stay in shape but also helps you to clear your mind of the chaos of thoughts. It helps you develop a good self-esteem. Exercising might even help you to have a positive outlook on life, a better sense of calm, improved memory, and better problem-solving skills.

Say no to screens an hour before bed

Having screen time before bed leads to delay in falling asleep, poor and inconsistent sleep patterns. It is advised to not use screens an hour before you go to bed in order to have a better sleep quality, which in turn will benefit you by keeping you productive throughout the day.
